About Me

Dr. Panduka Neluwala is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He obtained his BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering with First-Class Honors from the University of Peradeniya, receiving two academic awards, and completed his MEng and PhD at The University of Tokyo, where he received the Furuichi Kimatake Prize for an outstanding master’s thesis. His research interests include climate change impacts, flood prediction, weather forecasting, and water resource management. Dr. Neluwala teaches Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics, has published over 30 technical papers, and serves as principal investigator and supervisor for multiple ongoing Master’s and PhD research projects supported by local research grants. In recognition of his research contributions, he received the University of Peradeniya Research Excellence Award in 2025. He previously served as Director of the Sri Lanka–Japan Study Centre and is a member of the International Water Association (IWA) and an associate member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL)
